For my birthday as some of you know, I received an ilo DVD recorder/player. It was then that I decided to put it to use. As a big fan of season sets, I decided to gather some of my old Courage tapes, after some transferring, fixing up, and gathering some "special features", I had my own personal one-of-a-kind copy of "Courage the Cowardly Dog: The Complete First Season"! It may be bootleg, but at least it's better than the crappy bootleg copies people are selling on eBay.

Cool! I too am looking at buying a DVD recorder. How do you go about transferring VHS tapes to your computer?

There was no computer involved. (Believe me, if there was, and I had the money, my discs would have their own custom menus and everything). But anyway what you need is of course, a VCR, a TV, and the recorder (it won't work with a TV/VCR combo). Now, I'll try to type this as clearly as I can, because it can get confusing. First of all, since you have three different things here, you'll need a "spliter" cable. Hook up the TV with the spliter, and then hook an "out" cable to the "in" hole in the DVD recorder. Then, you'll need to hook up the VCR from "out", to "antannia" on the recorder". Then of course, you need the video cables (red, white, and yellow) hooked up from the TV, to recorder. If you're TV has an "AUX" channel, then once you turn on the recorder, the logo should appear on that channel. Then, you're set to go. (Make sure you have GOOD discs, because the record can be a bit touchie if there's even a single little smudge on it.

Yikes. I think I'll just head up to Ron's (my local TV shop) and get them to convert my tapes. Sure, it may cost $20, but it's worth it!
